Promoting and Fostering the Science of Demolition Engineering

Activities

Please use the links to the right for more information about particular activities.

The Institute gathers and disseminates knowledge about good demolition practice.

We are keen to actively participate in any form of discussion with governmental, industrial or standard setting bodies in order to promote the safest and most efficient techniques in demolition engineering.

Ad hoc working parties are set up to address particular aspects of demolition engineering where further examination of existing methods or scrutiny of innovations is required. From time to time we publish papers setting out our findings.

When finances permit, we sponsor the research of independent groups where this can be seen to be generally for the benefit and advancement of demolition engineering.

To promote interest in demolition engineering as a science and career the Institute sponsors an annual Best Paper Award in two categories: student and 'open'.

Members of the Institute present both new ideas and established techniques in demolition engineering by giving lectures and participating in seminars.

We organise seminars in the Spring and Autumn. These address current issues and are open to both members and non-members alike.

Our newsletter, the "Demolition Engineer" is published three times a year and is sent free of cost to anyone on our mailing list.

Meetings are held in each region: Scotland; North of England; Midlands and Wales; South of England. Members are welcome to bring guests.

All profits from activities are donated to the IDE Trust to help it promote and foster the science of demolition engineering..
